The homestead site is sixteen acres in Kennedy State Forest outside of Ithaca, NY. The land is mostly an old hay meadow that slopes to the south in tiers with a patch of hardwoods above, tillable land in the middle, and a marshy area below. The Finger Lakes Trail runs along the north and east sides of the meadow, a small creek runs allong the south side, and an unmaintained logging road runs along the western boarder. The property is not accessible to the electric grid. We had a well drilled and installed a hand pump for our water source then cleared a 500 ft gravel road to the top of the property where we lived in the converted camper trailer while designing and building the house.
