In Fall 2011, I taught a Sustainable Design seminar at Wells College in Aurora, NY that introduced students to techniques in sustainable architecture, agriculture, and design while addressing issues of food politics and environmental ethics. For their final project, the students decided to establish an organic garden on campus that integrated some permaculture principles like sheet mulch, solar exposure, and perennial species.
